Paired with edible Japanese sakura petals, each cup becomes a small hanami moment — a quiet way to experience spring through tea.

      The Tradition of Sakura Tea

Cherry blossoms are the symbol of spring in Japan.

While most people experience sakura by watching the flowers bloom, Japan also has a tradition of drinking cherry blossoms.

This tradition is known as sakura tea.

When hot water is poured over a cherry blossom, the petals slowly open in the cup, creating a drink that feels as if spring itself is blooming in the tea.

Sakura tea dates back to the Edo period and is often served at celebrations such as weddings.

      Cherry blossoms symbolize

      new beginnings

      • beauty

      • the arrival of spring

      • which makes them perfect for special occasions.

      What Is Sakura Matcha?

Sakura Matcha is a modern interpretation of this tradition.

A seasonal botanical matcha featuring sakura blossom powder as its key ingredient.

      Today drinks such as

      Sakura Matcha

      • Cherry Blossom Matcha

      • are becoming increasingly popular around the world.

Pink matcha lattes and cherry blossom drinks have become part of modern spring tea culture.

      WACHA Sakura Matcha

At WACHA we created Sakura Matcha (Pink Botanical Matcha) as a seasonal blend inspired by this tradition.

WACHA Sakura Matcha, a pink matcha drink with a soft floral tone, inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms.

The blend combines Japanese matcha with sakura blossom powder, creating

A Hanami Moment in Your Cup

      How to Make Sakura Matcha

Preparing Sakura Matcha at home is simple and relaxing.

All you need is matcha powder, warm water or milk, and optionally a cherry blossom petal.

      Basic Sakura Matcha

1 teaspoon (about 2g) Sakura Matcha
      70–80 ml warm water

Whisk the matcha gently with a bamboo whisk or mix with a spoon until smooth and lightly frothy.

      Sakura Matcha Latte

      1 teaspoon Sakura Matcha
a small amount of warm water
      150 ml warm milk

First mix the matcha with a little warm water to dissolve the powder, then add milk for a soft pink matcha latte.

      Hanami Sakura Matcha

For a special spring moment, add a sakura petal to your drink.

As the petal slowly opens, the cup becomes a small hanami tea ritual, celebrating the beauty of cherry blossoms.

      Tip

Sakura Matcha can also be used in

      • desserts

      • cocktails

      • sparkling drinks

to create a delicate cherry blossom flavor.

      Drinking Spring

Cherry blossoms bloom only for a short time each year.

That is why they are cherished in Japan.

When added to the cup, the cherry blossom petals bring a gentle hanami moment to your drink.

      A small taste of spring.
